First of all we have had a wonderful and enriching visit to Nakuru strengthening our links with St Paul's Normain.
Programme: Our programme has been very full and varied. The area of St Paul's covers a very varied area including a large slum as well as some better housing. We have visited members of the congregation, shared in prayer meetings and bible studies, helped out on a house building project, participating in worship and taking an Alpha workshop as well as other seminars (and many other things).
Projects: We have also visited some Diocesan projects. At the St Nicholas Children's Home, an orphanage for teenagers, we had a great time not only getting to know the children but also participating in a vigorous game of volleyball.
Visits: We then visited one of the poorest parts of the diocese where approx 99% are not Christians. We also managed a day in Lake Nakuru National Park where the highlight, apart from our van getting stuck in the mud / stream, was seeing thousands of pink flamingos. Of course experiencing a different culture is always challenging, however the best thing that we have done is pay a visit. |
The team visiting Kenya have received the attached thank-you letter and photos from the girls' rescue home they visited last week. The visit and gifts were very much appreciated - the girls are wearing the t-shirts donated by a member of St Mark's in the photos.

Receive greetings from me, my family and the Diocese of Nakuru. It is long since we last communicated. I remember telling you that I have been transferred from St. Paul’s Normain to the office. However, St. Paul’s Normain congregation is doing well. By the time I left on 31st December 2010 we had completed the Women Project and the house was rented. Also, the toilet project was on course and they expect to finish it by 20th February 2011.
You can also let us know if the new Vicar was installed. You can as well give him our contacts. The Vicar of St. Paul’s is Rev. Catherine Ndung’u. I gave her your contacts. It is my sincere hope that you shall keep in touch with us.
Our Diocese is now celebrating 50 years since its inception in January 1961. Welcome back to Kenya. We look forward to another team from St. Marks Horsham led by the new Vicar and Mike visiting Kenya. My wife-Rev. Sarah, daughters: Mary and Bernice and son Simon are fine.
Greet all Christians of St. Marks. Yours in Christ
Rev. Joseph K. Thiong’o Ag. ADMINISTRATIVE SECRETARY
